The da Vinci SP system combines a high-definition 3D camera with flexible surgical instruments through a single access point. It is designed to help surgeons see and work precisely in compact spaces.

The camera and instruments work through one access point, rather than needing separate entry points for each. Your procedure determines the approach.
A detailed 3D view
A flexible, high-definition camera provides a magnified, three-dimensional view to help your surgeon see the area being treated.
Precise, flexible movement
Specialized instruments bend and move within small spaces, helping your surgeon reach and work around the anatomy involved in your procedure.
Single-port surgery is not appropriate for every patient or procedure. Additional incisions or a different approach may be needed.

What does “single port” mean?
“SP” stands for single port. The system brings a camera and surgical instruments through one access point. Depending on the procedure, that may be an incision or a natural opening.
Can da Vinci SP be used for my procedure?
Not every procedure or patient is a match for single-port surgery. Your surgeon will explain whether da Vinci SP is an option for your condition and discuss other approaches when appropriate.
Will I definitely have only one incision?
Not necessarily. Although da Vinci SP is designed for single-port access, your surgeon may need additional access or a different surgical approach. Your individual needs and safety guide that decision.
What should I expect from recovery?
Recovery depends on the operation, your health, and other individual factors. Your surgeon will discuss what to expect, including follow-up care and when you may return to your usual activities. A particular recovery time is not guaranteed.
