Shelley L. Capehart, M.D.

Dr. Capehart earned her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Texas in Austin followed by her medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. During her general surgery residency at the medical school, she received the 2001 Award for Academic Excellence.

Upon graduation, Dr. Capehart completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Maryland. Born in Oklahoma City, she returned to Tulsa where she was in practice at St. John Medical center for almost three years before moving to El Paso with her husband.  She joined Surgical Associates in September 2011 after practicing on her own for several years in El Paso, Texas. Dr. Capehart specializes in colon and rectal surgery. She is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Colon and Rectal Society.

Dr. Capehart is blessed with three boys who keep their parents busy.  She is thrilled to be back in Tulsa.
