History of Surgical Associates

Surgical Associates was founded in 1966 by C. T. Thompson, M.D., W. Dean Hidy, M.D., Lowell Stokes, M.D., and Lester Nienhuis, M.D. Since then, our practice has grown to encompass 12 physicians and more than 30 nurses and support staff at two convenient Tulsa area locations.

Over the years, Surgical Associates physicians have been instrumental in increasing regional access to surgical care, including quality trauma care and comprehensive cancer treatment. Surgical Associates also played a defining role in the enormous progress of Saint Francis Hospital, and our physicians have provided leadership to this and other area hospitals on many levels.
